Colonels Sweep Pair from Owensboro and Barren County

The Christian County Colonels may want to schedule some more trips to ‘bar-b-que town for Saturday baseball. The Colonels made the trip north Saturday to Owensboro and came back with wins over Owensboro and Barren County.

In the opening game of the day, the Colonels overcame five errors in the field with a six-run fifth inning to take a 6-2 win over the Owensboro Red Devils.

Trailing 1-0 entering the 5th inning, the Colonels took advantage of three walks, a hit batter, and two Owensboro errors on the same play to score the first four runs of the rally. Coalton Ingram then doubled to drive in two more runs.

The Red Devils got one of the runs back in the bottom half of the inning but that was that.

Sebastian Dazey was 2-3 for the Colonels with a run scored. Preston Stokes ended up 3-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Gage Montes went 5 ⅔ innings to get the win. He gave up two runs, neither of them earned, on five hits, striking out six and walking three.

The second game of the day saw four Colonels with two hits as Christian County took a 7-2 win over Barren County.

Trailing 1-0 in the top of the third, Blake Boehman hit a two-run single to center to put the Colonels up 2-1. In the fourth, it was Sebastian Dazey who drove in a run with a single to left. The Colonels scored a second run on the play thanks to a Trojan error to make it 4-1.

Layton Creamer drove in a run with a single to left in the top of the 5th to make it 5-1. Aiden Lewis drove in a pair of runs with a double to left later in the same inning to extend the lead to 7-1.

Sebastian Dazey finished the game 2-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Aiden Lewis was 2-4 with a double and two RBIs. Layton Creamer was 2-4 with a double and an RBI. Thadius Toliver ended up 2-3 with three runs scored.

Aiden Lewis got the win for Christian County (3-2) on the mound. He went six innings, giving up two runs, neither of them earned, as the Colonels were charged with four errors in the game. He struck out 8 and walked none.
