
Hits were scarce on Monday for visiting Madisonville-North Hopkins as the Henderson County Lady Colonels extended their perfect start to the season with an 8-0 victory over the Lady Maroons. The Lady Colonels have now won the last nine in the series with Madisonville dating back to 2021.
Anna Kemp was lights out in the circle for Henderson, striking out 10 and allowing only two hits over seven innings. Kemp hasn’t allowed a run in 11 innings so far this season.
Mackenzie Burczyk got the Lady Colonels started with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first, and they doubled the advantage with a pair of runs in the third.
Ann Michael Utley’s single brought in two to make it 6-0 in the fourth, and a two-run error, one of four for the Lady Maroons, allowed the final two runs to cross in the sixth.
Sadie Kirk took the loss for Madisonville, giving up eight runs, four earned, on six hits with four walks and eight strikeouts. Kirk and Nevaeh Lindle each had a hit for the Lady Maroons.
Henderson improved to 4-0 ahead of a trip to Muhlenberg County on Tuesday.
Madisonville slipped to 0-4 and will look to get on track on Tuesday at Hopkins County Central.
