Christian County Knocks Off Lyon for 4th Straight Win (w/PHOTOS)

The Christian County Colonels are now officially on an early season roll. The Colonels got a quality start from freshman Nolan Young on the hill and won their fourth in a row Tuesday night by taking a 5-3 homefield win over Lyon County.

Young went five innings on the hill and contained the potent Lyon County batting order. He gave up three runs on six hits, striking out seven and walking two.

Sebastian Dazey then came in to pitch the final two innings and was strong in picking up the save. He gave up no runs on two hits, striking out three and walking none.

Lyon County (3-2) took the early lead in the game with a two-run, bases-loaded double from Colton Prow in the top of the second to make it 2-0.

Christian County (5-2) came right back in the bottom of the inning. Jonathan Lewis drove in a pair of runs with a bases-loaded single to tie the game at 2-2.

Lyon County went back in front in the top of the fourth when Brady Belt led off the inning by leaving the yard to left field making it 3-2.

Again, the Colonels came right back in the bottom half of the inning. With new Lyon County pitcher Turner Hurst on the mound to start the inning, Christian County loaded the bases on a single, a hit batter, and a walk. Eddie Davis scored on a passed ball to tie the game and then, after Davis walked, Aiden Lewis drove in the go-ahead run with a sac fly.

Gage Montes then drove in an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th on a fielder’s choice to push the lead out to 5-3.

Christian County got the win despite being outhit by the Lyons 8 to 5. Five different Colonels had one hit each.

Lyon County was led by Brady Belt, who was 3-3 with a home run, an RBI, and a run scored. Colton Prow finished 1-3 with a double and two runs driven in.

Brady Belt got a no-decision in the start for the Lyons. He went three innings, giving up two runs, neither of them earned, on two hits, striking out four and walking one.
