Paducah Tilghman improved to 5-0 with a 12-6 victory over visiting Lyon County on Tuesday, the first time the Blue Tornado have been forced to play seven innings so far this season.
Lyon County failed to build on wins in its last two outings, falling to 2-3 ahead of a 5th-district showdown with Livingston Central on Thursday.
The Lady Lyons took an early lead on 7th-grader Ava Prow’s RBI double in the top of the second, but the Blue Tornado answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame on Adrienne Romain’s RBI triple and a run-scoring single for Zoe Burch.
Prow added her second RBI on a single in the third, and a Paducah Tilghman error allowed another run to cross for a 3-2 Lady Lyon advantage.
However, five runs in the bottom of the third put the Blue Tornado in front for good, including an RBI double by Mia Bobbitt. Paducah Tilghman tacked on five more runs over the fifth and sixth, and cruised to the win despite a pair of runs for the Lady Lyons in their final at-bat.
Bobbitt earned the win in the circle, allowing three runs, one earned, on five hits with a walk and three strikeouts over three innings. Romain worked the final four frames, giving up three earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts and a walk.
Romain also finished with two hits and four RBI, Audreya White drove in two runs, and Madelyn Boling was 2/3 with an RBI.
Lilly Perry took the loss for the Lady Lyons, surrendering 11 earned runs on 12 hits with six walks and a strikeout.
Prow finished 3/3, Jenna Coursey had three hits and an RBI, and Perry hit safely twice.
