Visiting Muhlenberg County put the brakes on a four-game skid and extended Hopkins County Central’s losing streak to six games with an 8-2 victory on Monday.

The Lady Storm only managed two baserunners over the first four frames against Muhlenberg’s Zoey Frodge, while the Mustangs posted a run in each of the first two innings.  Three runs in the third made it 5-0, with Ana Carver’s single bringing in two.

Abry Carver opened the top of the fifth with a triple and came home on a sacrifice fly, and an error on Kelsey Kirkpatrick’s single allowed another run to cross for a 7-0 advantage.

Hopkins Central finally got on the scoreboard on Layla Sorrells’ RBI double in the sixth, and Julia Harris grounded out to bring in the second run.

Taylor Wilkins capped a three-hit night with an RBI double for Muhlenberg’s final run.  Kirkpatrick also collected three hits, Abry Carver and Frodge each had two, and Ava Carver drove in two runs.

Frodge earned her first win of the season, allowing two earned runs on three hits with a walk and four strikeouts.

Emily Ballard took the loss for Hopkins Central, giving up eight runs, six earned, on 12 hits with a walk and a pair of strikeouts.

The Lady Storm slipped to 2-16 with their sixth-straight defeat ahead of a visit from Dawson Springs on Tuesday.
