The Lyon County Lady Lyons are starting to get rolling at just the right time. Lyon County scored in every inning but the first on the way to a big 13-4 win over the Crittenden County Lady Rockets Thursday evening in a key 5th District game at Lee S. Jones Park.
The Lady Lyons, who were the visiting team on the scoreboard after a last-minute move of the game to Eddyville due to wet field conditions in Marion, pounded out 13 hits on their way to the win.
The Lady Rockets took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a double from Anna Boone.
Lyon County then scored nine straight runs to get a firm grip on the game. Sloan Cotham doubled in a pair of runs in the top of the second to make it 2-1.
Lilly Perry had an RBI double and Olivia Moore smashed a two-run homer to left to extend the Lyon County lead to 5-1 in the top of the third. Courtney Collins drove in two runs, Lilly Perry one, and the Lady Lyons got a run off a Lady Rocket error in the top of the fourth to run the lead out to 9-1.
Crittenden County used a pair of doubles in the bottom half of the inning to trim the lead to 9-3. But they would get no closer the rest of the way as the Lady Lyons took the nine-run win.
Ava Prow led the Lyon County attack going 3-4 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. Courtney Collins was 2-5 with a double, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Lilly Perry finished 2-5 with two doubles, two RBIs, and a run scored. Jenna Coursey and Sloan Cotham had two hits each as a total of seven Lady Lyons had at least one hit in the game.
Anna Boone and Elle McDaniel had two hits apiece for Crittenden County.
Lilly Perry went the distance in the circle for Lyon County, giving up four runs, on seven hits, striking out two and walking two.
The win puts the Lady Lyons as the #3 seed in the 5th District tournament and sets up a game with Trigg County in the semifinals. The Lady Wildcats won the two regular season meetings 4-1 and 1-0.
