It was a case of scoring first is not always a guarantee of ‘scoring’ the win. The Christian County Lady Colonels found that out Thursday evening. Christian County scored the first run of the game in the first inning but it would be their last as Paducah Tilghman took a 6-1 win on the Lady Colonels’ home field.
Avery Adock led off the bottom of the first with a single and then advanced to second on a sac bunt. Adcock then stole third and scored on a sac fly from B.B. Rodriguez.
Tilghman’s Mia Bobbitt shut the Lady Colonel offense down from that point on, allowing just four hits over the final six innings. Bobbitt had 9 strikeouts and three walks in picking up the win.
After falling behind 1-0, Paducah Tilghman scored six straight runs, two in the second, one in the third, two more in the fourth, and one in the fifth to run out to a 6-1 lead.
Jayda Turner led the Lady Colonels going 2-3. Avery Adock was 1-1 but for most of the night, the Lady Blue Tornado simply refused to pitch to her, walking her three times after her single in the opening inning.
Jordan Turner, who continues her recovery from off-season arm surgery went all seven innings in the circle, giving up 6 runs, only three of them earned, on five hits, striking out two and walking four.
Christian County had two errors that allowed Tilghman to score three unearned runs.
The Lady Colonels fall to 17-13 for the season with the loss.
