
With the KHSAA dead period coming to an end this week, activity on the high school sports scene will rapidly get into gear. One of the big events of the first days of the 2025-2026 sports calendar will be the annual Best of the West 7-on-7 at the Stadium of Champions, which will get underway Friday morning.
A total of 20 teams are scheduled to take to the turf on the football field and the soccer fields at the Stadium complex Friday morning. Teams will be set up in groups of four for Friday’s pool play, which gets rolling at 9 am.
Pools are as follows:
Pool A – Hopkinsville, Franklin County, Northeast, Fort Campbell
Pool B – Paducah Tilghman, Gibson Southern, Union County, Kenwood
Pool C – Macon County, Pearl Cohn, Madisonville, Christian County
Pool D – Clarksville, Trigg County, Logan County, McCracken County
Pool E – Warren Central, Hart County, Webster County, Calloway County
Pool play games on Friday start at nine and go every half-hour until 1 pm.
Bracket play in the passing tournament will take place Saturday, with a team’s position in the bracket based on how they fared in pool play Friday.
Macon County, Tennessee, won the 2024 Best of the West, knocking off Gibson Southern, Indiana, in the championship game.
