Todd County Central’s 2025 football schedule features some new faces, old rivals, and a new district configuration.

However, the first priority for the program is to name a new head coach to replace Chris Fletcher, who stepped down last month after one season at the helm.

Both of Todd Central’s preseason scrimmages will be at home – Aug. 8 vs. Kenwood, Tenn., and Aug. 15 vs. Clinton County.

The Rebels will open on the road on Aug. 22 at Ballard Memorial High School. The schools last met in 2014, with Todd’s last win in the series coming in 2008.

Todd Central’s home opener is the following week when Hopkins County Central comes to Elkton. The schools have met eight times, with each winning four games. Todd Central won a 38-35 shootout in their last meeting in 2022.

The Rebels will face a familiar face on Sept. 5 when they play at Butler County, coached by Josh Robins, who was at the helm of Todd Central from 2019-2023.

Butler County snapped a five-game losing streak to the Rebels in 2022 with an overtime win.

Todd Central’s lone out-of-state opponent is Jo Byrns, who makes the trip up U.S. 41 and Highway 181 to play in Elkton on Sept. 12. The schools last met in 2010 with Jo Byrns running to a 56-10 win.

The Rebels make the move to Class 2A District 1, where they will be in a six-team district with Fort Campbell, Mayfield, Trigg County, Crittenden County, and Caldwell County.

Todd Central will play at Fort Campbell on Sept.19 before returning home for a Sept. 26 contest with Mayfield. After winning three straight in the series from 2019-22, Todd Central has dropped the last two with the Falcons, including a 52-12 decision last year on post.

The matchup with Mayfield will be the first between the Rebels and Cardinals in the regular season since 1980. Mayfield won last year’s game in the playoffs 50-12.

The Rebels will play two straight road games over three weeks. On Oct. 3, they will play at Crittenden County and make the trip to Caldwell County on Oct. 17. Sandwiched between is their bye week on Oct. 10.

Todd County last played Crittenden in the regular season in 2019. Their last meeting was in the first round of the 2023 playoffs, a 24-20 Crittenden win. Todd’s last win over the Rockets came in the 1996 playoffs.

Todd Central will close out district play at home on Oct. 24 against Trigg County. Todd Central last played the Wildcats in 2022, which was a 42-26 Wildcat win. Trigg County leads the series 22-15.

The Rebels wrap up the regular season on Halloween against Webster County in Elkton. The Trojans edged the Rebels 23-20 last year in Dixon and have won two straight in the series.

Not returning to the schedule in 2025 are Monroe County, Ohio County, Stewart County, Tenn., Owensboro Catholic, Edmonson County, Warren Central, and border rival Russellville.

Todd County Central was 2-9 last year and will likely have to win two district games to qualify for the playoffs against District 2 teams that include Owensboro Catholic, Hancock County, McLean County, and Fort Knox.
