
Unless Caldwell County’s girls meet Hopkinsville in the 2nd Region tournament, the all-time series will forever remain a draw.
Caldwell shut out Hoptown 5-0 Tuesday night at Butler Stadium in what will be the final regular-season get-together between the two programs, with consolidation on the horizon in Christian County next year.
Caldwell’s win puts the all-time series dead even at 23-23-1.
Aliya Towns had two goals and Shylee Hinchee recorded a shutout in the net as Caldwell improved to 6-2.
Towns scored the first goal of the night in the 22nd minute. She pounded home a penalty kick after a Caldwell player was taken down in the box by a Hopkinsville defender.
Caldwell made it 2-0 just before halftime.
A Towns shot rebounded off the goalkeeper, where Kiya Sears punched in a shot just inside the post on the short side. That came in the 36th minute.
The margin grew to 3-0 in the 44th minute when Paisley Hooks finished in front of the net following a corner kick from Nunie Bates.
Mariah Vickery scored on the far side of the net following a cross from Sears in the 55th minute.
Towns headed home a Bates corner kick in the 59th minute to extend the margin to 5-0.
Hinchee made 10 saves in the Caldwell net while picking up the shutout.
Hopkinsville slipped to 4-4 with the setback.
Caldwell next hosts Madisonville-North Hopkins on Thursday for an important 7th District date.
Hoptown’s girls travel to Henderson County on Thursday.
