Caldwell Completes Regular-Season Sweep of Hopkins Central

The Caldwell County Lady Tiger volleyball team completed a regular-season sweep of Hopkins County Central Thursday night — and extended their lengthy winning streak in the series.

Caldwell swept three sets in Mortons Gap, prevailing 25-16, 25-16, 25-13.

The Lady Tigers have taken 29 straight matches from the Lady Storm and now lead all-time 55-1. Hopkins Central’s win came during the 2013 season.

Caldwell, now 7-5 overall and 2-1 in the district, recorded 30 kills in the win.

Med Thomas led the Lady Tiger hit parade with nine kills. Chevy McGowan totaled five kills, eight digs and two aces. Alaiyaa Shearer also had five kills.

Troy Freeman recorded four kills and three aces. Grace Watson had three kills and two digs.

Kylee White had 23 assists to go with two kills, four aces and three digs. Tink Clark had two kills, six digs and five aces.

Caldwell also got 10 digs, three aces and two assists from Mycah Riddle while Maddie Cooper had four digs and four aces.

The Lady Tigers have another important district date coming up on Tuesday when they host Madisonville-North Hopkins at the CAB gym in Princeton. The Lady Maroons swept three sets from Caldwell last week in Madisonville.

Hopkins Central (1-11, 0-2) next visits Trigg County on Tuesday.
