Christian County’s three young golfers wrapped up a developmental season on the golf course on Monday by playing nine holes at the Region 2 Tournament at the Henderson Country Club.
Anslee West, Lia Beckham, and Harper Wood have been learning the game this season under the direction of coaches Stacy Crick and Natalie Riggs.
“The main priority is teaching them the etiquette and pace of play and things that are important for competition,” Crick said as the three were braving rainy conditions to complete their season. “I think that developing the swing will happen over time, and the ball striking is something that will come, but I need them to be ready to compete.”
West played in some tournaments last year, while Beckham and Wood are fairly new to the game of golf.
“They are young, and they have an enthusiasm for the game and a desire to improve,” Crick said. “They want to get better, and I think that they enjoy it, and that’s where it has to start.”
