Lyon County went into their game on Monday evening having won their last two games, while Madisonville-North Hopkins had won their last one against Calloway County. It was the Lyons who were able to extend their streak to three games with a commanding 92-44 win over the Maroons.

The Lyons got out to a very early 10-point lead thanks to some great first quarter play from Bray Kirk, who had nine in the first eight minutes. Their lead had shrunk the tiniest bit, but Lyon still went into the second up 22-13.

Madisonville was able to keep Lyon County from extending the lead for a while thanks to a pair of Lake Sumner three-pointers. But by the end of the half, the Lyons were able to get their lead all the way up to 25 with some more solid play from Kirk.

The senior point guard kept it up in the third, which allowed his team to take full control of the game and get their lead all the way to and past 40.

The Maroons were able to knock in their fair share of threes in the second half, but the Lyons scored seemingly every time Madisonville did. And that ultimately led to them taking home their third victory in a row.

This is now the seventh time in a row that Lyon County had gotten the best of Madisonville-North Hopkins, with the last win the Maroons were able to get in the all-time series was back in January of 2020.

The leading scorer in the game for the Lyons was Kirk, who finished with an impressive 42 points and four made three-pointers. Isaac Defew, Cooper Collins, and Nolan Coffman were all also able to get into double-digits.

As for the Maroons, their leading scorer was Sumner with 15 points, all of which came from beyond the arc. Jeremiah Lewis was also able to contribute seven points of his ovwn over the course of the game.

They will be looking to help their team bounce back in their next game on Friday, February 13, against Muhlenberg County. That game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Muhlenberg County High School.

On the other side, Lyon County will be looking for their fourth win in a row in their next one against Livingston Central on Monday, February 16. Their game will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Lyon County High School.
