The Christian County Lady Colonels look to be the big favorite as the girls’ 8th District tournament gets underway Monday night at Hopkinsville High School. With University Heights not having a team again this season and Heritage Christian electing not to play in the tournament, only three teams will compete for the title.

Play opens Monday night at 6 pm when the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers (1-17) take on the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons (3-11).
The two teams met only once this season, that coming way back on December 10, when the Lady Tigers picked up their only win of the season with a 65-32 victory at Fort Campbell.
Laelah Watkins scored 18 points that night for Hopkinsville in the win, and Serenity Ewing added 13 points and 9 rebounds.
A’mari Grimsley was the only Lady Falcon to hit double figures with 14.
The last win in the series for Fort Campbell came on March 1, 2005, in the 8th District tournament.
The winner of Monday night’s game will advance on to Thursday night’s championship game against the Christian County Lady Colonels.
Christian County swept Hopkinsville this season, 66-33 and 74-35. The Lady Colonels rolled past Fort Campbell 75-10 in their only meeting of the season.
