Hopkins County Central senior Aalycia Stringer has signed to continue her volleyball career at Kentucky Wesleyan College with the hopes of later becoming a coach.

Stringer earned All-District honors in 2025 as she totaled 122 kills, 42 blocks, 23 assists, 115 digs, and 21 aces in 2025.

For Stringer, the decision to sign with Kentucky Wesleyan was influenced by the program’s proximity to home.

“The closeness definitely factored in,” she said. “I’m very much a homebody and a family-oriented person. So being able to call my mom or my dad and be like, ‘Hey, do you want to get dinner?’ without having to travel an arm and a leg to get to me was very much a deciding factor in that.”

Stringer said her college volleyball aspirations began early in her high school career.

“Ever since I started freshman year playing varsity and I got my number 13 jersey, that was the moment I knew that volleyball is what I want to do,” she said. “I want to pursue it in college and then come back to my hometown because I’m pursuing education as my degree, and I want to come back to this high school and coach volleyball here.”

She said her passion for coaching goes beyond teaching the sport itself.

“For me, coaching isn’t just about the sport,” Stringer said. “It’s more about the kids and their well-being, treating them how they would want to be treated, and teaching them how to be young adults through a sport. It’s also seeing the love that I have for my sport grow in our small town.”

Stringer said her strong personality will be an asset as she transitions to college-level volleyball.

“I think my bubbly personality and my willingness to step forward and be the first person to do something will keep me apart from everybody else and make me stand out the most,” she said.

Kentucky Wesleyan College volleyball competes at the NCAA Division II level as part of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
