Caldwell County High School opened in the fall of 1952. Two years later, sports powerhouse Princeton Butler High School merged with Caldwell County. Princeton Dotson (1963) and Fredonia (1972) later became a part of the Caldwell County school system. The Tigers were long a member of the Fifth District in several sports before being moved to the Seventh District in 2006.
