Benny Snell Jr. left off SEC’s Top-5 Running Backs for 2017 Season

Yesterday, Edward Aschoff released his rankings of the top-5 best running backs in the SEC for the 2017 season. Kentucky Wildcat Benny Snell Jr. was left off the list, with the top-5 rounding out as Derrius Guice (LSU), Nick Chubb (UGA), Bo Scarbrough (ALA). Kamryn Pettway (AUB) and Ralph Webb (VAN).

Scarbrough may look like the Hulk, Chubb may end up being Todd Gurley 2.0 and Guice may be even better than Leonard Fournette (this year’s 4th overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars). However that is far from reason to leave Snell off the top-5 list.

Snell out-rushed both Scarbrough and Chubb last season. His 5.91 YPC were better than than both Chubb’s and Webb’s. He also rushed for 13 touchdowns, a Kentucky freshman record and second only to Guice’s 14.

While splitting carries with Williams, Snell managed to finish 5th in attempts, 8th in yards and 2nd in touchdowns a season ago. With Williams now in the NFL, Snell will become the cow bell back for the Wildcats. I have Snell third behind Guice, Scarbrough and ahead of Pettway, Webb.
