The 2nd Region boys’ soccer tournament gets underway on Monday at the Stadium of Champions, with the usual suspects vying for the title.  The Hopkinsville Tigers and the Henderson County Colonels have separated themselves from the rest of the region during the regular season, but were drawn on the same side of the bracket with a possible semifinal clash looming.

The opening games of the tournament will both be played at 5:30 on Monday, and will feature the Lyon County Lyons (9-8-1) facing the Webster County Trojans (12-6-1) and the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons (9-8-1) squaring off with the University Heights Academy Blazers (12-7-2).  Webster County beat Lyon County 1-0 in Dixon during the regular season, while Madisonville won 7-1 over the visiting Blazers three weeks ago.

On the other side of the bracket, the late games on Monday have the Hopkinsville Tigers (16-4-1) playing the Caldwell County Tigers (9-9-1) and the Henderson County Colonels (15-3-2) meeting the Trigg County Wildcats (6-14).  Hopkinsville mercy ruled Caldwell County 10-0 at the Colonel Showcase in mid-September, and Henderson handled the Wildcats 7-0 at the Recreation Complex in late August.

The quarterfinal winners will meet in the semifinals on Tuesday, with the final to follow on Thursday.
