1-11-brown

Trigg County got strong play off their bench and needed all of it as they rallied from ten points down in the second half to hand Crittenden County a 51-50 district setback Thursday at Wildcat Gym. Devron Triplet put back a missed shot with four seconds left that proved to be the game-winner for the Wildcats.

Micah Brown’s bucket with 22 seconds left gave Trigg County a 49-47 lead, but Tyler Boone quickly answered with a 3-pointer at the other end to put the Rockets up 50-49.

Brown scored 12 of his game-high 15 points in the fourth quarter. Down 41-31 late in the third quarter, the senior guard drilled a 3-pointer with 3:48 left to knot the game at 45. Kirome Bingham and Jacob Kent both hit big free throws in the final quarter to aid in the comeback. Kent added six points and four rebounds as Trigg’s bench outscored Crittenden’s 24-3.

Triplet added 12 points, and Kendric Adams scored seven points – all in the first half.

Trigg County led 23-16 at halftime, but Crittenden County outscored Trigg 25-10 in the third quarter to take the lead.
Tyler Boone paced three Rockets in double figures with 14 points. Preston Turley added 10 points and 11 rebounds for Crittenden County, who dropped to 4-10 and 0-5 in Fifth District play.

With the win, Trigg County surpassed their win total from last year and improved to 9-6. They are 4-1 in district play and take over the top spot in the district standings following Livingston Central’s 48-39 loss to Lyon County. The Cardinals and Lyons are one game back with district records of 3-2.

The Wildcats play at Hopkins County Central Tuesday.
