The Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warrior soccer team came from behind to beat visiting Pleasant View (TN) 4-1 on Thursday night.  The game was the opener of the Lady Warriors’ spring season.

Just over ten minutes into the game HCA were caught on a counter attack and Pleasant View took a 1-0 lead.  The Lady Warriors responded less than two minutes later when junior Mauri Jenkins got free on the left wing and beat the Pleasant View keeper with a shot inside the near post to tie the game.  With fourteen minutes left in the first half, 7th grader Lianna Carr dug the ball out after a scramble in the 18-yard box and rolled it into the corner of the goal for a 2-1 lead that the Lady Warriors would take into the halftime break.

Pleasant View was able to keep the ball for stretches in the second half, and much of the game was played on the HCA defensive side of midfield, but the Lady Warrior back four held firm and didn’t allow Pleasant View any good looks at the goal.  Fifteen minutes into the half, HCA freshman Abbi Bullock found herself open at the top of the 18-yard box and scored on a shot the keeper got her hands on, but couldn’t keep out.  With twenty-four minutes left to play, Bullock scored again on a one-touch shot off an assist from Jenkins for the final 4-1 margin.

The Lady Warriors are back in action on Saturday when they travel to face Somerset.
