Wildcats Finish Strong in 10-3 Win Over Calloway (w/PHOTOS)

Trigg County scored eight runs in the final two innings to hand Calloway County a 10-3 loss and finish the regular season five games above .500 for the second time this year.

Calloway jumped out to a 3-0 lead, highlighted by a solo home run by Lofton Pigg in the third inning.

Trevor Cortner keyed the Wildcat comeback in the fifth inning with a two-run double grab a 4-3 lead. Riley Stallons followed with an RBI single to extend the Trigg lead to 5-3.

In the sixth inning, Arlon Butts and Micah Brown singled. Stallons, Savion Radford, and Darrin Brown followed with consecutive RBI singles to push their lead out to 9-3. An error scored Trigg’s 10th run of the game.

Hayden Cunningham pitched two innings of hitless relief to get the win for the Wildcats. Trigg pitchers only allowed six hits in the game.

Cortner led the Wildcat offense with two hits and three RBIs. Stallons had two hits and two RBIs, and Darrin Brown and Micah Brown each had two hits and an RBI. Jake Terrell, who started the game on the mound and didn’t allow a run in 2.1 innings, contributed a pair of hits at the plate.

Calloway County (14-11) got two hits from Aaron Dawson.

Trigg County (16-11) will play Lyon County in the semifinals of the Fifth District Baseball Tournament Monday at Gordon Guess Field in Marion.
