It will be more expensive to attend sporting events at Western Kentucky University this year. Beginning with the new 2018-19 fiscal year, which began July 1, the Kentucky Department of Revenue is requiring all non-profit organizations to collect a 6-percent sales tax on admissions to events hosted by the organization which includes athletic events.
With the new laws in effect, WKU Athletics will be required to add an additional 6-percent sales tax to event tickets, both single-game and season. The change will be reflected in the single-cost price of tickets but will not affect parking or donations.
Tickets purchased prior to July 1 will not be affected by this change.
