Post 68 Wins American Legion Southeast Region Opener

Lyon County Post 68 opened play in the American Legion Southeast Region Tournament with an 11-1 win over Parkersburg, West Virginia Post 15. Post 68 will play Troy (AL) Post 70 Thursday afternoon in the double-elimination tournament in Asheboro, NC. Troy beat Sumter (SC) Post 15 7-4.

Post 68 scored in every inning except two and rode a strong pitching performance from Cameron Head to win the opener. The Livingston Central hurler allowed just five hits and one earned run. He did not walk anyone and struck out four.

Gabe Board (Lyon County) had two hits and three RBIs, while Conner Guthrie (Mayfield) and Cameron Dean (Livingston Central) each had two hits. Dean also drove in two runs. One of Guthrie’s hits was a triple, while Brody Bridges (Lyon County) added a double. Lyon County helped their offense by swiping five bases and committed just one error on defense.

Lyon County Post 68 is one of eight teams competing in the Southeast Region for the chance to advance to the 8-team American Legion World Series Aug. 16-21 in Shelby, NC.
