Kentucky beat Mississippi State and got two more verbal commitments in the next 24 hours.
Coach Mark Stoops and his staff will again have a lot of recruits, including Western Hills star Wandale Robinson, on campus Saturday night when the Cats host South Carolina.
“It’s very important. It’s been a great atmosphere and very good for recruiting. We’ve had some officials and plenty of unofficials, as you know,” Stoops said. “We’ll continue to have the same.
“Definitely when you get off to the start we have and with the environment like that it’s a big piece of it to recruiting for sure.”
Robinson made an official visit to Alabama last weekend. He will be at Ohio State for his official visit the weekend of Oct. 6. He’s also made official visits to Purdue, Michigan and Nebraska, which he has said remains his leader. Now there not only has been a buzz for Alabama, but also Ohio State with national recruiting analysts.
Western Hills coach Don Miller told me this week no decision has been made and no definite time set for his decision. Robinson’s father told me the same thing before they went to Alabama.
Louisville Ballard linebacker Jared Casey will also be on an official visit this weekend. He’s a four-star player who missed last season with an injury. He recently visited Oregon, which is perceived to be his leader.
Moore defensive end J.J. Weaver watched UK beat Mississippi State and will be back again. So will receiver Demontae Crumes of Louisville, who has already verbally committed to Kentucky.
Lexington Herald-Leader recruiting columnist Ben Roberts has reported that Ohio lineman Kyle Jornigan, though to be a UK lean, will visit this weekend along with South Carolina cornerback Jalen Geiger, a UK commit.
