Caldwell Girls Top Lyon and Madisonville to Improve to 14-1

The Caldwell County Lady Tiger tennis squad is 14-1 in team matches this season after capturing wins over Lyon County and Madisonville-North Hopkins.

On Tuesday, Caldwell’s girls took three of four matches from Lyon despite playing without their top three seeds.

In singles, Shae Sharp defeatd Caitlin Comerford 8-0 and Kaylee McEnaney downed Audrey Crayne 9-6. Lyon’s only win was Jakhia Burks’ 8-2 triumph over Josie Shaffer.

In doubles play, Sharp and Shaffer topped Comerford and Crayne 8-2.

On Monday in Madisonville, Caldwell claimed seven of night matches.

Singles wins for Caldwell were Belle Englebright over Kendall Warren 6-0, 6-0; Maddie Morgan over Dani Cruz 8-2; Chasie Phelps over Riley Marsh 8-0; Sharp over Lauren Williams 8-0; and McEnaney over Megan Oakley 8-2.

Madisonville’s lone win in singles came when Meg Tackett defeated Shaffer 7-3.

Caldwell won two of the three doubles matches, with Phelps and Morgan downing Cruz and Marsh 6-0, 6-1 while McEnaney and Englebright beat Oakley and Bella Tapp 8-0.

For Madisonville, Williams and Warrens defeated Sharp and Shaffer 8-5.

In the boys’ match on Monday, Madisonville claimed eight of the nine matches to improve to 14-3 on the season.

Caldwell’s lone win came in singles when Ryan Hammett knocked off Nathaniel Crick 8-5.

Madisonville swept the other singles matches, with Kyle Hart downing Shelton Cansler 8-0; Tanner Ray defeating Jordan Hammett 8-1; Seth Daniel topping Brycen Banister 8-2; Luke McElroy knocking off Michael Henry 8-2; and Josh Plain besting Billy Wallace 8-1.

In doubles, Ray and Daniel defeated Cansler and Jordan Hammett 6-0, 6-1; Crick and Hart beat Banister and Henry; and McElroy/Plain topped Ryan Hammett and Wallace 9-8 (6-1).

Caldwell’s guys bounced back on Tuesday to sweep three matches from Lyon County.

In singles, Ryan Hammett won over Brennan Gallerie 8-0; and Wallace turned back Travis Crayne 8-3.

In doubles, Bryce Thompson and Wallace beat Gallerie and Crayne 8-1.

Caldwell’s guys are 6-5-1 in team matches this season.
