The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers defense has been pretty solid all season long. Scoring goals has proven difficult at times, especially with Ana Hernandez being off the field due to injury. Now, with the defense in the middle of a great run, and the offense beginning to find its stride, the final weeks of the 2019 soccer season could be quite interesting for the Lady Tigers.

The Hoptown defense held Christian County scoreless Tuesday night for its fifth straight shutout, and the offense for the second straight night was rolling at full speed, as the Lady Tigers cruised past the Lady Colonels 7-0 in an 8th District battle at the Stadium of Champions.

For the second night in a row, Keeli Miles found the net five times for Hopkinsville, Miles had a hat trick in the first 23 minutes of the match and then added two more goals in the second half.

One night after scoring the first varsity goal in her career, Makayla Marshall scored the second goal of her varsity career, guiding a rebound off the crossbar into the net at the 58:00 mark.

Abby Moss scored the other goal for the Lady Tigers.

Defensively, Hopkinsville rarely allowed Christian County to get into position to get off a shot on goal. The Lady Colonels best opportunities came on long runs from Autumn Bell.

The Lady Tigers had sort of circled this match on their calendar ever since their loss to Christian County on penalty kicks in last year’s 8th District tournament semifinals.

Hopkinsville now improves to 7-6-1 on the season. The Lady Tigers are 4-0-1 over their last five matches.

Christian County falls to 3-6-0.
