Former Lyon County standout Gabe Board has started the first three games of the season at shortstop for the Lindsey Wilson College baseball team.
Board singled and scored twice in the Blue Raiders’ 12-1 win over Rio Grande (Ohio) last Friday. Rio Grande took the second game of the twinbill 5-4.
Board had a single, scored a run and stole a base in the season opener against Asbury last Tuesday. However, Lindsey Wilson dropped that game in extra innings when Asbury scored eight times in the top of the 10th to take a 13-5 decision.
Board, a sophomore at the NAIA school in Columbia, was a two-sport standout at Lyon County, excelling in both baseball and basketball.
The Lindsey Wilson baseball game against Brescia scheduled for Wednesday has been canceled because of the weather. The game will not be made up.
The Blue Raiders are now set to return to the field on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 19-20, when they take on both No. 17 Reinhardt (Ga.) and Rio Grande.
