Hopkinsville jumped out to an early lead and let the reserves finish in a 9-2 district baseball win over Fort Campbell on Senior Night Wednesday at Tiger Field.

The Tigers snapped a three-game losing streak and completed its run through the district with a perfect 6-0 mark.

Hoptown jumped ahead 8-0 with four runs in both the first and second innings.  Logan Durst’s RBI single and Tim Cansler’s run-scoring double highlighted the first inning.

Durst brought home two more in the second inning with a sharp liner to center field. Preston Chaudoin followed with an RBI double, and Zach Moss scored Hoptown’s eighth run with a sacrifice fly.

Durst capped his three-hit day in the fifth with a double that scored Landon Snyder for his fourth RBI of the day.

Snyder, Tim Cansler, and Blake Balthrop each had two hits as part of the 10-hit Tiger day.

Fort Campbell got on the board with single runs in the sixth and the seventh.  Felipe Hernandez led off the sixth with a walk and stole second. He later scored on Ethan Egner’s infield single.

In the seventh, Andrew Haughenberry led off with a single. He came around to score on a Hoptown error – one of three Tiger miscues on the day.  Haughenberry had two of Fort Campbell’s four hits on the afternoon.

Snyder pitched the first three innings for Hoptown, striking out six and giving up no hits.  Ryan Myers pitched the final four innings, fanning seven and giving up just one earned run.

Angel Garcia pitched well in relief for the Falcons, giving up five earned runs and striking out three in five-and-a-third innings.

Hoptown improved to 15-8 and will travel to Trigg County Thursday.  Fort Campbell dropped to 0-17 and will make the long road trip to Ballard Memorial Thursday in search of its first win of the season.
