When Emma Talley walked off the Old American Golf Club course just before noon Thursday, she was alone atop the leaderboard at the Volunteers of America Classic at The Colony, near Dallas, Texas.

Talley had seven birdies and just one bogey in her round, including three straight birdies on Nos. 13-15.

Her 6-under-par 65 equaled her lowest rounds on the LPGA Tour.

By 12:30, both Jin Young Ko and Min-G Kim had tied Talley at 6-under with both still having holes to play.

Meanwhile, the afternoon tee times were just getting underway.

But Talley’s round was her best this season on the LPGA Tour and has her in contention in Texas.
