The Hoptown Hoppers saw their three-game winning streak come to an end Tuesday night as they dropped a road tilt at Madisonville. The Miners scored the final six runs of the game to pick up a 14-10 win at Elmer Kelley Stadium.

The two teams kept the fireworks from the 4th of July weekend going early on in the contest. The two combined to score 13 runs over the first three innings as the Miners took an 8-5 lead. The teams pounded out 12 hits over the opening three innings, including two that left the park for the Hoppers.

Hoptown cut the lead to 8-6 with a run in the top of the 5th and then seemingly took control of the game with four runs in the top of the sixth to go up 10-8. Landon Choboy’s second home run of the night and back-to-back doubles from M Romero and Jake Parr were the big blows in the inning.

However, the Miners rebounded with three runs in the bottom of the inning and three more in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead for good. The 7th inning rally for the Miners was set up by three walks and a hit batter to open the inning.

Hoptown would load the bases in the top of the 8th inning, but Madisonville pitcher M Clements struck out the next two batters to end the final threat of the contest for the Hoppers.

Landon Choboy had a huge night for Hoptown, going 3-5 with two home runs, a double, and four RBIs. Jake Parr also had three hits for the Hoppers, including a home run and two RBIs. Marco Romero added two RBIs for the Hoppers.

Hoppers pitching had some control issues over the course of the game, giving up six walks and hitting three batters. The Hoppers’ defense was also charged with three errors in the contest.
