The Hoptown Hoppers are giving you a chance to own a piece of Hopper history and help support a Christian County Colonel baseball player recovering from cardiac arrest.

Fans can stop by the team’s merchandise tent at home games and bid on baseballs autographed by Hoptown Hoppers Dusty Rhodes and Pete Harbold.

Harbold came to Hopkinsville in 1953 and was a pitcher on the last Hopper team before the franchise disbanded.

Rhodes is considered the most famous of the original Hoppers.  He led Hoptown in hits in 1947 and was third on the team in home runs with 12 while batting .326.

Rhodes went on to play for the New York Giants from 1952 to 1957. In 1954, he led the National League with a .341 average and helped lead the Giants to a World Series title.

The silent auction proceeds will benefit Christian County High baseball player and golfer Jace Blue, who suffered a severe asthma attack last October following a travel baseball tournament near Memphis.  Through prayers and rehab, Blue continues down his road to recovery.  Silent auction funds will help pay for medical bills and post rehab.

HERE IS OUR STORY from December detailing Jace’s road to recovery
