Kentucky football filled a lot of needs in transfer portal

Kentucky football has been recruiting at a higher level the last few years than ever before but kudos to the UK staff for not missing a beat with the transfer portal as well. Recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow and others definitely have used connections to make the free agent market — transfer portal — work for UK as well as it has any team in the country.

Just look at what Kentucky has added:

— Receiver WanDale Robinson came from Nebraska to give Kentucky the big-play receiver it has been missing in recent years. He not only will be a starter but could be UK’s best playmaker.

— Quarterback Will Levis transferred from Penn State and many are already speculating he will be the starter when the season opens. He still faces a three-way battle with Joey Gatewood and Beau Allen but his strong arm and feel for offensive coordinator Liam Coen’s system make him a huge addition for UK.

— Linebacker Jacquez Jones arrived from Ole Miss where he was one of the SEC’s leading tacklers. Kentucky has a void with the departure of Jamin Davis to the NFL and injuries to other players. With Jones, UK added experience and talent at a position it was really needed.

— Dare Rosenthal, a potential NFL first-round draft pick, just left LSU and picked UK. Marrow had to beat quite a few schools to get this talented addition to the Big Blue Wall.

— Receiver Tre’Von Morgan and linebacker Luke Fulton arrived from Michigan State. Neither one is expected to be a starter but will likely provide needed depth.

It’s just hard to imagine another team doing any better in the transfer portal than Kentucky.
