Knoth Dodges the Rain to Advance at State Tourney

10-6-knoth

Claire Knoth was in the afternoon group to begin play at the Leachman Buick GMC/KHSAA Girls’ State Golf Tournament Tuesday. She shot 1-under par over her final six holes to make the turn with a 2-over-par 38.

Despite a storm that suspended play for 30 minutes, Knoth was able to finish her round at 8-over par and make the cut for Wednesday’s second round.

The Caldwell County junior scuffled a bit when play resumed, shooting 3-over on her next two holes. However, she birdied No. 12 and added three more pars to finish in a tie for 25th place, eight shots off the lead.

Knoth will take to the course for the second round after Tuesday’s first round is completed Wednesday morning.
