Three Trigg County cross country runners made their state meet debuts Friday with the Lady Wildcats sending four runners to the starting line.
Fatu Crain led the Lady Wildcats with a 108th place finish with a time of 23:04 over the 3.1-mile course. Boyd County’s Sophia Newsome won the race in a time of 19:17.
Jessie Paulter finished in 141st place with a time of 23:46. Reese Bush clocked in at 24:32 to finish 168th, and Camryn Boone was 180th in 24:51.
Only Bush had run in a state cross country meet for Trigg County prior to Friday.
For the second straight year, the state meet was run at the Bourbon County Park after decades at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. Runners had to traverse wet and muddy conditions that were the result of light rain that fell throughout the day.
