Former Caldwell County basketball standout Derrin Boyd had a team-high 15 points on Tuesday but his Georgetown Tigers suffered a setback on the road.
Georgetown, ranked No. 15 in the NAIA ranks, played at NCAA Div. I Eastern Kentucky, but dropped a 93-63 decision at the former Ohio Valley Conference school which is now a member of the ASUN.
The EKU Colonels ran out to a 55-29 lead at halftime in that contest, played at McBrayer Arena in Richmond.
Eastern Kentucky went 22-7 last season. EKU was picked to win the ASUN this season by College Sports Madness and CBS Sports.
The game was an exhibition for Georgetown College, which is off to a 3-0 start this season.
Boyd and the Tigers will be back in action this Saturday night when they play in the Thomas More Classic. Georgetown will take on Kent State Tuscarawas in that event.
Georgetown does not play at home again until Nov. 26 and 27 when it hosts the Jim Reid Classic with games against Wilberforce University and Greenville University.
