Derrin Boyd was one rebound shy of a triple-double as his Georgetown College team set a school-scoring record on Saturday.
The former Caldwell County standout had 17 points, nine rebounds and 10 assists as Georgetown ran past Greenville University 155-109 in the Jim Reid Classic in Georgetown.
The No. 16 Tigers recorded 56 assists on 65 made field goals while improving to 7-1.
Drew LaMont tallied a career-high 39 points as six Georgetown players scored in double figures.
Meanwhile, Boyd made all six of his field goal attempts and was 5 of 6 from the free throw line. He also had two steals and a blocked shot in 23 minutes of action.
Boyd is one of just two Caldwell players ever to record a triple-double when he had 24 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists in a win at Crittenden County in December of 2017. Eli Pepper had two triple-doubles for Caldwell.
Boyd also scored 17 points on Friday night as Georgetown outlasted Wilberforce University 85-77 on the first night of the Jim Reid Classic.
Boyd was 7 of 16 from the floor in that game but missed all four of his 3-point attempts. He was 3 of 4 at the free throw line while adding five rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Boyd, a sophomore, is averaging a team-high 19.8 points a game this season.
Georgetown next hosts Bethel University on Thursday at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
