The Fort Campbell Falcons struggled to get the ball in the basket in Friday night’s loss to Clarksville Christian. The same problem reared its head Saturday afternoon for the Falcons on the road at Fulton City.

Fulton City limited the Falcons to just 27.5-percent shooting as the Bulldogs picked up a 64-42 win in Fulton.

Behind the play of Camare Cobb, the Bulldogs came out firing and took a 20-10 lead after the first quarter. Cobb scored six points in the opening quarter. Colby Tate scored six of the Falcons ten points to help keep Fort Campbell within shouting distance.

The two teams played “even Steven” in the second quarter. Cobb had another solid quarter for the Bulldogs but the Fort Campbell defense did the job containing everyone else as the two teams headed off to the break at 32-22.

The Falcons continued to hold their own with Fulton City as the second half got underway. Fort Campbell got a balanced effort on both the offensive and defensive ends to keep pace and trail by 48-36 going into the final period.

But there would be no rally on this Saturday afternoon. The Fulton City defense would limit the Falcons to just two made three-pointers in the final eight minutes of the game as the Bulldogs ran off to the final 22 point margin. Aidan Blaszkowski and Tahlil Strayhorn knocked down the two made shots for the Falcons in the 4th quarter.

The Falcons were led by Colby Tate, who finished with 15 points. Elijah Brown added seven points and ten rebounds for Fort Campbell.

Camare Cobb was the Bulldogs’ leading scorer with 19. Tristan Lalley chipped in with 17.

Fort Campbell ended up shooting 16 of 58 from the field, including 5 of 22 from behind the arc.

The Falcons drop to 1-2 with the loss. They are set to return to action Tuesday at home against St. Mary.
