Lady Blazers Knock Off Fort Campbell For First Win

A stifling defensive effort and a big night from Alecia Davis led the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers to their first win of the season Thursday night. UHA limited Fort Campbell to just three first half points as the Lady Blazers rolled to a 45-12 win in an 8th District contest at Blazer Gym.

The Lady Blazers’ defense got started early. UHA limited the Lady Falcons to just a single free throw in the first quarter as the Lady Blazers took the 8-1 lead.

UHA’s defense kept rolling in the second quarter. The Lady Blazers held Fort Campbell to one field goal and extended the lead to 18-3 at the break.

Things went from bad to worse for the Lady Falcons as the second half got underway. Fort Campbell was held scoreless during the third quarter and UHA pushed the lead on out to 33-3. Alecia Davis stepped up with a big quarter for UHA, scoring 8 points.

Davis stayed hot in the final quarter, adding 12 more points, as the Lady Blazers rolled on out to the final 33 point margin.

Davis led the Lady Blazers with 25 points on the night. Amaryia Bass and Breanna Daniel added 8 points each.

Fort Campbell was led by Rosella Rajj with 5 points. Marlie Fanning had a big night on the glass for the Lady Falcons pulling down 12 rebounds.

Both teams had their struggles from the field. UHA connected on 16 of 64, while the Lady Falcons were 5 of 37.

The win ends a four-game losing streak for the Lady Blazers and moves them to 1-4. They return to action Friday night at home against Christian County.

Fort Campbell falls to 0-5. The Lady Falcons are now off unti January 4, when they travel to Heritage Christian.
