For the third straight game, Dontaie Allen did not play when Kentucky beat Western Kentucky 95-60 Wednesday night at Rupp Arena. He also did not play in the 66-62 loss at Notre Dame over the 98-69 win over North Carolina. Same for the season-opening loss to Duke.

Allen also played only three minutes against Southern University on Dec. 7. Since getting 19 minutes against Central Michigan Nov. 29 when he was 3-for-11 from the field, he’s played three minutes in four games.

Kentucky coach John Calipari was asked about Allen, who said he didn’t want to play the final two minutes against North Carolina when Calipari offered to put him in with the walk-on players, after the Western game.

“Yeah, he hurt himself in practice,” Calipari said.

Allen was at the game and sat on the bench. He did not go through pregame warmups.

“I asked Dontaie before the game, how are you feeling? ‘Eh, I’m a little shaky,'” Calipari said.

Lance Ware also did not play after playing well in UK’s win against North Carolina.

“I went to stick Lance in and Lance said, ‘Coach, I’m not feeling right. You know, I’m not loose or whatever.’ I’m fine with it. I mean, because I was going to Lance and said let Daimion (Collins) play,” Calipari said.

  1. Dontaie has never got a fair shake since he came to UK. If Calipari had given him the chances he gave Brandon Boston last year, Dontaie would have been a star and UK would have had a winning record. As for practice, its no wonder he has slacked up there as he was not getting any PT as a reward. I think he needs to transfer and be the next Johnny Juzang.
As for Lance, he needs to understand that Oscar is a once in a generation talent. He will get PT when Oscar gets in foul trouble and that will be plenty. Coach could play him at the 4 spot with Oscar at the 5, but we need Lance as a backup 5 guy because there have been and will be more games when Oscar gets 2 fouls in the first 5 minutes. Lance will be the 5 spot guy next year and needs to make the most of this year to be ready for that.
I just hope Davion is not the next guy to catch this "illness".

  2. This will be another year that cal can’t give us a title . He can’t take a good team and win . He has blew 3 titles since he has been here . A lot of money for a coach who can’t get this job done . Oh I forgot these coaches aren’t robots .
