Biggersville (Miss.) and Webb School (Tenn.) traded buzzer-beaters Tuesday afternoon in the West Kentucky Hoops Classic in Princeton.

Webb’s Evan Eursher sent the game to overtime when his shot from backcourt went off the window and in to knot the game at 48-48 at the end of regulation.

But Biggersville ran down the clock for the last shot of overtime. The Lions missed, but Zyonn Mayes was able to gather in the rebound in front of the rim and stick the ball back in the bucket in one motion, giving the Mississippi school a thrilling 52-50 victory.

The game was tightly-contested defensive battle for much of the afternoon.

The teams were tied 9-9 after one quarter before Webb went to halftime with a 21-19 advantage.

The Feet stood on a 35-30 lead through three quarters before Biggersville regrouped in the final frame.

The Lions, though, missed a chance to put the game away at the free throw stripe in the closing seconds of regulation. That gave Eursher just enough time to launch his shot two steps behind the midcourt line.

Biggersville held a 15-2 advantage in second-chance points in the contest — none bigger than the stickback by Mayes just as the overtime horn sounded.

Zae Davis led Biggersville with 21 points and was selected the Lions’ Player of the Game. Biggersville also got 15 points from Brooks Brand.

Eursher led all scorers in the game with 25 for Webb and was the Feet’s Player of the Game. He also had six rebounds and five assists. Arnett Hayes added 14 for Webb School.

Biggersville finished its first visit to the West Kentucky Hoops Classic with a 2-0 mark.
