Murray Rolls Past Arlington, Now 10-0 (w/PHOTOS)

Murray took control of its game against Arlington, Tenn., in the second quarter and kept its perfect record intact with a 74-50 win Tuesday in the West Kentucky Hoops Classic in Princeton.

The teams battled back and forth early before the Murray Tigers edged ahead 15-11 after 8 minutes.

But Murray outscored the Arlington Tigers 24-11 in the second period to get to halftime with a 39-22 advantage.

The margin grew to 57-29 after three quarters as Murray pushed its record to 10-0 and picked up its second win in Caldwell County’s holiday event.

Grant Whitaker was the Player of the Game for Murray, producing 17 points on 7 of 9 shooting from the floor. He made three of his five 3-point attempts and also grabbed five rebounds.

Trey Boggess added 15 points for Murray, while Lincoln English had 13 points and six rebounds. Kobe Watson tossed in 11 points.

Lucas Hufstetter netted 13 points and five rebounds for Arlington and was the Player of the Game for the Memphis-area school.

Murray shot 51.7 percent from the field in the win and was 7 of 21 from 3-point range.

Meanwhile, Arlington (6-5) shot 33.3 percent from the floor and was 6 of 20 from behind the arc.

Murray will play a third game in the Hoops Classic, taking on Lee from Montgomery, Ala., in the final game of the event at 8 p.m. Tuesday night.
