
Robert E. Lee from Montgomery, Ala., dealt Murray its first loss of the season in the final game of the West Kentucky Hoops Classic Tuesday night at Caldwell County.
The Generals got a late bucket from Pedro Bennett to force overtime, then survived 49-47 when Murray missed a 3-pointer at the end of the extra session.
Murray (10-1), which was playing its second game of the day and third game in two days, went to halftime with a 26-20 advantage.
But Lee (6-7) came back in the third quarter to lead 37-35 going to the fourth quarter.
Caleb Gill put Murray up 43-41 with 49 seconds to go. But Bennett’s bucket at the 0:29 mark knotted the game at 43-43 and set up overtime.
The Generals outscored the Tigers 6-4 in OT.
Bennett had 12 points and was the Player of the Game for Lee. Laneer Surles had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Generals.
For Murray, Grant Whitaker had 14 points and Trey Boggess had 10. Kobe Watson hit a pair of 3-pointers off the bench and was the Murray Player of the Game.
Lee was 7 of 8 at the free throw line while Murray went just 9 of 18 at the stripe.
