Lyon County’s girls cut a 14-point halftime deficit down to a single point in the third quarter.

However, the Lady Lyons could never draw even or get the lead, falling to Webster County 51-39 Tuesday night at Jason White Gymnasium in Eddyville.

Lyon (9-8) struggled offensively in the first half, managing just five field goals over the first two quarters while falling behind 28-14 at the break.

But the Lady Lyons got off to a quick start in the third quarter, twice cutting the margin to one at 29-28 and 30-29.

A 3-pointer by Hannah Yates helped Webster (9-6) hold Lyon at bay, and the Lady Trojans went up 36-30 through three quarters.

Webster pushed the margin to double figures early in the final stanza.

Lyon got back to within 45-39 on a Calista Collins bucket from inside with 2:01 to play, but Webster scored the final six points of the night to nail down the victory.

Yates had four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points to lead Webster. Madison Hinton and Raigan Price each added 10 points.

Rose Smith topped the Lyon scoresheet with 18 points. Collins had 12.
