Colonels Pick Up Overtime Road Win at Calloway County

After a couple of tough losses over the past several days, the Christian County Colonels picked up their first on the court win in 2022 on the road at Calloway County Friday night. The Colonels knocked down 10 of 12 free throws in overtime to carry them past the Lakers 71-64.

The game was close throughout the night. Behind a big start from Jordan Miles, Christian County took a 16-14 lead after the opening quarter. Miles scored 9 points for the Colonels in the first eight minutes.

Miles scored seven more in the second quarter as Christian County was able to nudge the lead out to 34-31 at the break.

Derrell Bateman got rolling inside during the third quarter for Christian County, scoring 11 points in the quarter. Still, Calloway County was able to trim the lead to 50-48 heading into the final quarter. Freshman Eli Finley had 9 points in the third for the Lakers.

With freshman Jonah Butler coming up with 10 points in the fourth quarter, Calloway County was able to come back and force overtime, tying the game at 58-58.

In the extra period, the Colonels got to the lead and then knocked down their free throws to pick up the seven-point win.

Jordan Miles had a big night for the Colonels finishing with 25 points. Derrell Bateman added 22. Breland Morrison also hit double figures with 10 points for Christian County.

Calloway County was led by Jonah Butler with 17. Eli Finley added 16 points. Matthew Ray finished with 11 points.

Christian County improves to 6-15 with the win. The Colonels will host Warren Central on Tuesday.
