
A 19-0 run sent the Christian County Lady Colonels to a big early lead and they held off a 2nd-half surge from Warren Central to pick up a 71-57 victory on Monday night. The point total ties the second-most by the Lady Colonels this season and results in their second win in three outings.
The Lady Colonels began the decisive run in the 1st quarter, turning a 6-6 game into a 20-6 lead behind eight points from Ne’Vaeh Day.
Christian County led 25-6, but Kaylyn Keener tossed in eight points in the 2nd quarter and the Lady Dragons trimmed the Lady Colonel lead to 34-20 at the half.
Mikayah Killebrew scored 11 in the 3rd and her layup with with 3:55 left in the quarter put the Lady Colonels up 15. However, Keener’s 3-pointer sparked a 9-0 Lady Dragon spurt to pull them within six at 43-37.
Killebrew had the answer with five points in a 7-2 stretch to close the quarter and push Christian County to an 11-point advantage.
Anaysia Bagwell took over for the Lady Colonels in the 4th with 10 points. Christian County built a 66-43 advantage after a layup by Killebrew with 3:38 to play, before Warren Central scored the last nine points of the game for the final margin.
