Caldwell County senior Blake Vivrette made it official — he has signed to kick footballs at Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro.

Vivrette and Tiger teammate Angel Long, a lineman, both signed with KWC in a joint ceremony on Wednesday afternoon in the Fine Arts Theatre at CCHS.

Vivrette and Long helped the Tiger football team go 7-4 last season.

Vivrette was a difference-maker in the kicking game. His kickoffs and punts typically pinned the opposition deep in its own territory. He converted 22 of 26 extra-point kicks while also going 7 of 10 on field goal attempts — but a perfect 6-for-6 inside of 40 yards.

Vivrette was named All-WKC first team kicker each of the past two seasons.

Kentucky Wesleyan is an NCAA Div. II school which competes in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The Panthers went 3-8 last season.

The school announced 33 signees on Wednesday.

“I’m extremely excited about our 2022 recruiting class” said KWC head coach Craig Yeast, a former star receiver at the University of Kentucky. “Our coaching staff has done a tremendous job of identifying talent that fits our schemes and builds relationships throughout the process. We addressed several needs on offense, defense, and special teams, as well as provided much needed roster depth. I’m excited about the high level of the athletes and the quality of the young men that we have added to our program, we aren’t done yet! Paws up!”

Vivrette also had offers to kick from Lindsey Wilson College, Thomas More University and Midway University. But Kentucky Wesleyan was the first school to offer.

A four-sport performer at Caldwell, Vivrette was also a key member of Caldwell’s soccer team, which reached the 2nd Region championship game for the first time in school history this past fall. It was Vivrette’s shootout PK that sent the Tigers to the regional finals.

As a member of the Caldwell track team last spring, Vivrette finished third in the high jump at the Class 2A state meet and was named second-team all-state.

Vivrette is in his second season as a member of the Caldwell basketball team. The Tigers are 15-7 this season.

Blake is the son of Brad and Cassie Vivrette.
