
The University Heights Academy Lady Blazers put the brakes on a seven-game losing run on Monday with a 51-29 victory at Heritage Christian Academy.
The Lady Blazers’ second win of the season over the Lady Warriors leaves them at 4-15 overall with a visit from Hopkinsville scheduled for Tuesday.
HCA slips to 5-9, 1-6 against KHSAA teams, and will travel to Pleasant View on Thursday.
The Lady Blazers led 13-0 before HCA got on the scoreboard with a 3-pointer by Kate St. Martin. Amaryia Bass got UHA off to a good start with six 1st-quarter points.
UHA took a 20-point advantage at 27-7 after Lee Lee Love connected on one of two free throws with 3:45 left in the 2nd quarter. Alicia Davis scored nine in the frame for the Lady Blazers, but they went scoreless for the last two minutes of the half to allow the Lady Warriors to trim the margin to 14.
The lead reached 27 points midway through the 3rd quarter, with Davis scoring seven and Love and Bass combining for eight to lead the Lady Blazers.
Neither team reached double digits over the last eight minutes and the final margin of 22 was as close as HCA got in the 4th.
Davis’ 19 points led all scorers, with Bass also reaching double figures for the Lady Blazers with 15.
