Four years ago, Fort Campbell didn’t score a single point at the region swim meet. Fast forward to Sunday where the Lady Falcons finished in third place with four individuals and three relay teams reaching the medal podium.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Avery Graham, Lily Marrou, Ava Roberts, and Anika Weisbrich finished in fifth place in 4:55.94.

Fort Campbell’s point total of 189 points was five better than fourth place Henderson County and ten better than last year’s third place team Madisonville.

Sunday’s region meet at the Rick Cohn Aquatic Center was delayed two days due to the winter weather that left many roads in western Kentucky ice-covered. Because of the delay, the preliminary round was scratched and Sunday’s event was a timed final.

First and second place finishers automatically qualify for the KHSAA Girls’ State Swimming Championships presented by UK HealthCare on February 19 at the University of Kentucky. The next 22 fastest times statewide will also qualify.
