
Hopkinsville high school will have one qualifier for this week’s semi-state wrestling tournament and one alternate following Saturday’s regional wrestling tournament at Caldwell County High School.
Trushaun Matt finished in fourth place at 113. He went 2-2 on the day, losing to Union County’s Jordyn Rainey in the semi-finals and to Paducah Tilghman’s Jayven Williams in the third place match.
Dontre Quarles finished in fifth place in the 190-pound class. He took down Apollo’s Jared Gray with a pin 2:10 into the fifth place match. Quarles will be an alternate for the semi-state round after finishing outside the top four.
Holden Schneider finished in sixth place at 126. He went 3-3, losing to Fort Campbell‘s Brock Sharp in the fifth place match.
As a team, Hopkinsville finished in 12th place with 41.5 points. The semi-state round will be held Saturday at Union County High School.
