Boyle County senior Molly Wise has the best indoor mark in the state in both the long jump and triple jump.
Vaughtsviews.com intern Molly Wise produced the best indoor long jump mark of any Kentucky high school athlete this season earlier this month in Louisville. Last week she had her personal best of 37 feet, 6 1/2 inches in the triple jump — the state’s best indoor mark in that event this year.
She has been nominated again for the Kentucky Track/Cross Country MileSplit Female Performer of the Week. She had over 20,000 votes last week but finished second and already had over 12,000 votes at 9 p.m. Tuesday (you can vote at https://ky.milesplit.com/articles/309683/female-performer-of-the-week-poll-27-213.)
Wise, who went 17-10 1/2 at the Louisville Indoor Games, had the No. 1 triple jump of all-time in all three classes competing for a school team in Kentucky with her mark last week according to her trainer Mark Brummett. It was also the No. 2 jump all-time by an athlete competing as a team, club or unattached entry.
She broke the Boyle County all-time indoor school record by 5 feet, 4 1/2 inches. Think about that. She broke a school record by five feet.
Wise also broke her own overall all-time school record, set outdoors, by seven inches.
It was also the No. 1 triple jump recorded at the new Norton HealthCare Sports & Learning Center for a high school competitor.
Wise, who also played volleyball, recently committed to Division I Richmond for her collegiate track career, will next compete in the indoor state championships at the same Louisville venue where she set the long jump and triple jump marks.
Tim Estes and I will talk with Wise about her latest record-setting performance on our radio show Thursday from 7:15-8 a.m. on WPBK (102.9 FM, wpbkfm.com).
